★ ★ ★ ★ ★ No frills local joint serving bbyeodagi haejangguk (literally pork-bone soup to chase a hangover). Been frequenting this place on the weekends since a few years back only because of its value for money, not necessarily for taste. For about 6 USD, you'll get a bowl of soup with heaping mound of meaty bones and ugeoji (outer trimmings of cabbage), with humble side dishes (two types of kimchi). The joint received some limelight after being featured in some tv program, and is busier than before especially on the weekends. Not worth the wait if the line is ot the door imho. The broth is salty, MSG-ey and lacks the natural umami, savory flavor found in pork bone broth simmered for hours. Still, 4 stars for good value.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ No frills. You sit down and get fed a bowl of soup that will rock your socks off. It's meat and cabbage. I'm not entirely sure which meat. I honestly don't care. It's that freaking good. I had a hard time finding good breakfast in Seoul. This day was the exception.
