★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 선교사 부부의 아들로 평양에서 태어나 일제시대를 살다가 대학공부를 위해 미국으로 가서 하버드에서 학위를 받기 6개월 전, 한국전쟁의 소식을 듣고 내가 태어난 나라를 위해 전쟁에 참여하기 위해 자원입대. 해군에서 기뢰지거 및 교관으로 활약하며 인천상륙작전을 성공한 뒤 서울 탈환을 위해 교전 중에, 서울수복을 불과 6일 앞둔 1950년 9월 22일, 현재 역촌역 부근인 녹번리에서 전사함. 이런 분들의 숭고한 뜻을 대한민국과 그 국민들은 잊지 않고 기억해야 함.
 Born in Pyongyang as the son of a missionary and lived in the Japanese colonial period, he went to the United States to study at university, and six months before he received his degree from Harvard. He was active in the Navy as a mine depot and instructor, and succeeded in the landing operation in Incheon, and died in the battle for recapture of Seoul on September 22, 1950, only six days before the restoration of Seoul, at Nokburn-ri, currently near Yeokchon Station. The sublime will of these people must be remembered by the Republic of Korea and its people.
