Oh my godness. So delicious Grilled Beef Ribs. Very big ribs. They grill for us. So melting.. i love it. Noodle is not bad for me. U should have fried rice too. Little bit expensive but no regret!! R

I really liked their marinated rib. But I wasted a lot of time to get in. I'm not sure it's worth it. Plus they didn't seem to care for guests' safety in the situation of COVID19. They let a lot of guests wait at the small entrance.

Went to Seoul on the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) and had to try Mongtan because of the good reviews I've heard from it. (Mainly from Strictlydumping Youtube Channel). Nonetheless, we went to queue on New Years Day 2022, and waited in line for 1 hour. We managed to get the queue timing of 1:30PM. (In the meantime, you can visit Korea War Memorial while waiting). Some of the waiters are able to speak English and were able to convey to us the portion to order. You are to minimally order 2 portions and after that you can order single portions to top up. The meat was fantastic and it was the best Korean BBQ I experienced. At this price point, I am amazed at how succulent the meat tasted as well as how juicy it was. All the cooking was done by the staff and they were precise with it. There are 4 sauces along with the meat - Fish Roe, Seaweed Salt, Wasabi and Soybean Paste. The Fish Roe and Wasabi was a favourite while the Salt complimented the meat nicely. Finished off the meal with the onion fried rice. The waiter will extract the fatty portion of what remains on the bone and cook it first. Before placing the fried rice on top of it. Definitely worth visiting if you are a traveller and if you are local, even more so as a monthly treat. The queue is long on the weekend so do go early. It goes without saying that this is one of the rare place that I went twice in my 28 day stay in Korea.

well known korean bbq plce which is famouse for whole rib beef. tableside full service was excellent. the staff will do all the grilling, cutting and serving so you can enjoy the meal better.

(Updated in Dec 2021) Meal budget per person (without drinks) Category 1 (under 60000 KRW, 50 USD) The restaurant specializes in Grilled Pork Belly and Galbi (Grilled Ribs) as well as the Rib Finger that comes from it. The meat are seared from the kitchen on straw fire and comes to the table for resting process and grilled again before carving. So the perfect harmony of “searing-resting-carving” make the condition of beef the best: crispy outside – tender & juicy inside. ** Grilled Ribs: It is marinated with sweet and salty sauce, and the scent of straw fire is permeated. The beef is very tender and goes well with wasabi. ** Rib Finger: One of my favorite. It is chewy and super savory! * Pork belly: Texture is chew and inside is juicy. But, if one menu should be chosen, I can say, the signature menu of this restaurant is Grilled Ribs and Rib Finger. ** Onion fried rice: It has well balanced spicy taste and is helpful against greasy taste. ** Bean Paste Stew: Similar to the taste with Chowon, it has very good Umami with deep, rich and savory taste. It matches very well with Onion fried rice. * Noodles: It is Pyengyang style and some people may not like it because it is bland. But it may be good as a refresh after eating. There are many barbecue restaurants, but, the Mongtan is one of a kind and one of the best! The antique exterior and interior are also impressive and helpful for better flavor ambience. Prices are moderate and staffs are kind. The explanation on each dishes are also very helpful. The restaurant has been listed onto Blue Ribbon Survey since year 2020. Valet parking is not available but there is a validated parking lot nearby. But, the one with Mongtan is one of a kind and one of the best! Signature menu is Galbi and the Rib Finger that comes from it. They are really delicacies. The antique exterior and interior are impressive and match well with the dishes. Prices are moderate and staffs are very kind. The explanation on each dishes are also very helpful. Valet parking is not available and even a self-parking is not so easy, which should be the only weakness. Otherwise, this fine restaurant for gourmet should have been listed onto Michelin Guide as a one star or Bib Gourmand already.

Visited around 3:30pm on wednesday afternoon and was lucky to be seated right away! As a galbi lover, I was in love with their galbi. The sauce was a perfect balance of savoriness and they cook the meat perfect. For three people, we ended eating 6 servings of meat?? their portions are small and $$$. Also their onion fried rice is a must!! 2-3 hrs of wait isn’t worth it so try visiting during the slow time on weekdays. Kbbq

Hot place in Yongsan-gu, difficult to get in but totally worth waiting! Excellent beef ribs, pork belly and fried rice is to die for
