Very nice traditional Hanok hotel. Check-in and check-out was a bit different. Like the hotel and the surrounding.

Lovely grounds and nice clean rooms. More modern Hanok stay.

Would have been OK if it was marketed as a guesthouse and in a lower price range. But given what we paid the service was underwhelming and there were too many issues to deal with (e.g. cards randomly deactivating and no reception open at night meaning we were close to be locked out).

Really friendly and helpful staff, they will do everything to help you with what you need. We got some really good restaurant recommendations :) The hotel itself is really beautiful on the outside but just so and so on the inside, we sleept in the oldest room in the hotel. All in all we had a nice stay there.

Worst ever. This has traditional house and modern house; and I stayed in a modern house. I stayed 2 nights - too long to stay; eventually very upset to my sis., who booked here and already paid(!) - Unfortunately, I had to shut up because it was already too late to find another accommodation and did not want to distress my sis., who completed chemotherapy just a few months ago. Besides, my humble mum who just arrived from another place innocently stood next to me without recognising anything. Service - Room phone was out of order so advised to use mobile phone to contact the reception; Hello, do you know how much it will cost for me? Or will you pay for my roamed mobile phone? Facility - Extremely messy, unorganised and unhygienic - to make long story short "extremely poorly managed accommodation" Could see how they store their blanket and other stuff through widely opened storage door. - most of their work stations' doors were widely opened so this is unavoidable. Anyway, this made me doubt their level of hygiene. Their trolleys were left on the hallway all day and blocked pathway I call myself a traveller, have stayed in a cheap hostel to 5 stars hotel, however, have never seen this kind of facilities - if they are not confident to deliver great professionalism, at least they should be good to hide this disgusting scene. When I entered a room I found that they installed all big brands but very poorly. In a bathroom, there was no rack/holder to hook towel so towels were piled up on Toilet! - this is their idea of hygiene Once again, there was no hook/rack for towel so there was nearly nowhere to place a wet towels. Bathtub itself was very comfortable but this was installed awkwardly so people should be very acrobatic to go in and extremely talented to get out. - I blamed my aged mum (72yo) to take a risk to use this dangerous bathtub. They blocked bathtub with glass wall and this wall is faced when using toilet.(this wall is one of reason making customers acrobatic, too) This looked fancy but was so hazardous because there was not enough space between toilet bowel and glass so I often ended up banging head on glass while I was using toilet. After 1st night, I happened to see how they cleaned the room - I am a Catholic so I came back to the room after Sunday Mass (the historical catholic church was just next door)to see how they clean the room. Cleaning a room, washing a toilet bowel and storing new towels were completed with same dirty hand. - not very surprising after seeing things above but still disgusting. When I first found skin rash after 1st night, I didn't care greatly because this could have happened before staying here. However, after 2nd night, I found worsening of skin rash on both elbows down to hands. - I leaned on cushions while finishing a book and rash was exactly same area where I leaned on. - linen/manchesters were fine but maybe better to avoid cushions. Breakfast Was shockingly poor. Had burnt sausages, dried mystery eggs, bread, cereals, milk, orange juice and coffee. There were no vegetables or fruits. Was told the breakfast was free because this was under promotion - who may want to pay this poor breakfast. Besides, if they decided to promote themselves "traditional house built in 1957" their breakfast should be traditional - any objection? Anyway, I could not believe this was what I should expect after paying 190000 won/night. If someone ask me where to stay near here, I would suggest "just avoid here" there are many options to experience the same with less price. - arrr...now I regret not taking photos to show how poor this facility is. For someone want to stay in a traditional house, I cannot say greatly because I did not stay in a traditional house, however, would say think again before a making decision. I travelled Taiwan before going to Korea; and I dare to say my NT$1400 accommodation in Taipei was far better than this in any perspectives.

I have stayed in this beautiful boutique Hanok place for three nights. The atmosphere is fantastic. Walking distance to Kyoungbook palace, Bukchon, Changduk palace and all other major historic sites of Seoul. In addition to that, you may enjoy lots and lots of Korean traditional food. Even though this place is advertising its traditional hanok Korean traditional style lodging, but actually only Sweet room provides that Hanok stay , and other rooms are renovated from old Korean two story cement building. Don't get me wrong. I am so amazed by how well and beautifully they renovated the old two story cement block house into a beautiful lodge. The breakfast is served in the hotel cafe in the separate building. The cafe can be accessed through the small door right next to the front desk. The warm breakfast served in the morning from 8 am to 9:30 am. Usual breakfast serving includes bacon, sausage, small egg omelet, sandwich bread, orage juice, can soup in the coffee heater, coffee. My room was on the second floor with private terrace looking over rooftop of hotel cafe and road. The view was exceptionally best. You may see NamSan tower and other high rise building in the center of Seoul but in the quite place. Also, the terrace was surrounded by persimmon tree, quince tree. In the middle of busy streets of Seoul, you may find most relaxing atmosphere. In the terrace had two outdoor metal chairs and table. but you may invite a couple more friends to sit down on the wooden box fence along the fence line. Bed mattress was queen size ; soft cushy and comfy Simmons Bestimo Premium if I remember correctly. Four plush pillows and two small brown color pillow. Very warm blanket and you may need to turn on AC even in chilly Seoul autumn. One of the big drawback in this bed is lack of bed top sheet. When it is obvious that thick warm blanket can not be washed every time after guests stayed. Top sheet will give clean feeling to guests. TV and its program are amazing to use but only for Koreans. Not enough information about how to use TV and its contents in English. The placement of TV set is not in front of bed but left side of TV. It is very inconvenient to watch TV from the bed. Bathroom consisted of a shower stall, a sink, and a smart toilet. Tiles and overall design is very modern and sleek, so it gives wow moment. However, warm water of the shower is coming out very slowly and hard to adjust its warmness. It was either hot or cold. The lack of space to put anything other than already provided was so problematic. Large size towers were placed on top of toilet due to lack of space. My gf and I brought our personal hygiene stuff but no place to on the sink. That smart toilet was working like magic. It automatically flush itself even though it offers manual flushing on the left side wall mounted device controller. The door has some gaps which was temporary fixed with transparent plastic filling. Through that gap, random people might peek inside of room. The noise from the alley can be heard in the room. The staff in the front are nice when we ask questions and try to do their best to help us. It seems like they are not professional enough. They do not welcome when guests are coming inside or leave lodge. They look like staff in the much lower quality inn managers. Overall, this lodge is amazing if you want to explore the center of Seoul with quiet atmosphere. but there are lot of detail to be fixed to give genuine feeling of staying in Boutique hotel.

Beautiful rooms and very modern comfort in an historic atmosphere. The staff speaks English well. Our room has huge windows and a large balcony with curtains that can keep the room dark. Palaces, restaurants, many galleries and shops are all within walking distance.

What a great Place! Stayed here for 10 days in 2017. The owner is a nice guy, who is pretty helpful if you need further information about the city oder anything else related to Seoul. The rooms a big and very clean. The quality of the stay was top notch thanks to bonum 1957! No other place I would stay when I will ever come back!
