★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 용흥궁은 조선 25대 임금 철종(1831~1863)이 왕위에 오르기 전 19세까지 살았던 집이다. 흔히 강화도령이라 불리는 이원범의 잠저이다. 이원범은 전계대원군 이광의 셋째 아들로서 14세 때까지는 무난하게 살았다. 그러나 1844년 헌종 10년 민진용이 큰형 이명을 왕으로 추대하려는 역모가 발각되었고 연좌제에 걸린 원범은 교동도로 유배를 갔고 이후 강화도로 이배되었다. 그리고 19세때 까지 둘째 형 이욱과 농사짓고 나무베고 살았다. 그러다 1849년 헌종이 급사하자 졸지에 왕이 되었다. 큰형 명이 살아있었으면 둘째 욱이 왕이 되었을 것이다. 그러나 큰형은 역모로 인해 죽었고 이후 둘째가 가문을 이어야하니 셋째인 원범이 양자로 입적되면서 왕이 되었다. 운이 좋은 것인지 모르겠지만 원범의 잠저는 용이 흥하게 되었다하여 용흥궁이 되었다. 현판은 흥선대원군의 친필이다.

It is the sleep of Lee Won-beom, commonly referred to as Ganghwa Doryeong. Lee Won-beom was the third son of Jeonggyedaewon-gun Lee Gwang, who lived in good condition until the age of 14. However, in 1844, in the 10th year of King Heonjong's reign, Min Jin-yong attempted to elect his eldest brother Lee Myung as king. And until the age of 19, he lived with his second brother, Lee Wook, farming and cutting trees. Then, in 1849, when King Heonjong died suddenly, he became king. If the older brother had been alive, the second would have become king. However, the eldest brother died due to a contradictory motherhood, and since the second must be the family, the third, Won-beom, was adopted as a son and became king. I don't know if I'm lucky, but Wonbeom's sleep became Yongheung Palace because the dragon became prosperous. The signboard is handwritten by Heungseon Daewon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 용흥궁은 조선 25대 철종임금이 어린시절 기거하던 곳이었습니다. 원래의 생가의 모습은 지금의 형태가 아니었던 것으로 짐작됩니다. 현재의 용흥궁은 철종 4년에 강화 유수 정기세가 세운 전각으로서 살림집의 형태로 건축되었으며, 조선시대 양반가의 건축형태를 살펴볼 수 있습니다.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A traditional building built in the 17th century. It is said that the King ChulJong of kingdom of Josun, spent his childhood here. He was a very far royal family, who had almost zero possibility of gaining the throne. However, he became a king, because the last king has died young without a son. Because of this story many people think this place gives some kind of luck to its visitors. Besides that superstitious aspect, there aren't much things to see, since it is just a regular housing.
