★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1927년 설립된 혜화동 분소로 있던 것을 옮긴 것이다. 그곳은 당시 젯터공소였었다.
1942년에 600여명의 교인들이 동대문구 제기동 260번지에 본당을 짓고 분당했다.
초대 주임신부로 파리외방전교회 소속 콜랭(J.A colin) 신부가 부임했다.
1959년 현재의 장소에 본당을 짓고 이전하여 존재하고 있다.
지하 1층 지상 5층 철근콘쿠리트 건축물로 849.45m2 연면적 2,810.65m2 규모입니다.
지름의 본당터는 본래 잡신을 모시는 제사터였다. 주민들의 재앙이 닥친다는 미신의 속설로 반대로 많은 우여곡절을 겪고 건축되었다.
종교사적이나 건축사적으로나 보존의 가치가 있으며 미래유산으로도 가치가 충분하다.
