★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great morning hike to do if you’re in the Gangwon province. I highly recommend getting there early before the crowds of Korean tourist buses arrive (typically 10am). Both approaches are steep but it’s worth the reward when you get up there; over 700,000 Birch Trees with some great photo spots and we’ll preserved paths. Looks great regardless of the season.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely breathtaking. I went in summer, but still want to visit during winter and fall. The area is apparently most beautiful during fall. The name 자작 (Jajak) is derived from the sound the trees make when they burn.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect place to take a deep breath. It's about 2.5km up. The way is easy to walk, and over there between the trees is very fresh. The are restrooms up there if need. Wonderful place. So recommend

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing scenery at the birch forest. The route to the forest is rather steep and slippery (during winter) along the way. Do take a walking stick at the entrance which will help to make your climb easier. Worth the effort to climb up to see such an beautiful birch forest.
