If you wish to purchase a used car in the Daejeon area this is the place to visit. Many Koreans replace their cars after two years and most of the cars have been parked in the parking garages under the apartment buildings so they are in excellent condition. Also used cars that are three years old and have under 30,000km are often sold at half price. We purchased a Kia Morning there and it was in excellent condition and very pleased with it after two years. Beware that different areas of this huge car lot are the domain of different dealers. It is best to look up the car you want on the internet but if you are not conversant in Korean, you will be challenged as it will be in Koran language. But then you can just go there and often there are dealers to meet you and show you their available cars. Also understand that there is little bargaining down the price of the car. I have taken friends there to help them purchase a car and bargained as we would in the US and had little luck. Maybe worked price down a few hundred dollars on a car selling for $6000! But then this was over one half the price new for the car. I will never purchase a new car in Korea as the second hand cars are usually low mileage and in excellent condition. Korea is a small country and so long trips are not possible like in the US. Also the public transportation system is so excellent here. I have also purchased high mileage cars and they are still worth purchasing. I paid $400 for my first car and it was 12 years old and had over 80,000 km on the odometer. I drove it for three years and sold it for what I paid. Of course I am a car guy so I took good car of the car. Another big fact is that little salt is used on the roads so rust is not a big problem and the mechanics here are excellent. I know as I have worked with them and really admire their ability. Also be aware that emissions testing is very strict so make sure that the car is able to pass this hurdle. .
