한국의 아픈 역사의 한 부분이며, 잊지 말아야할 이야기.
언제나 볼때마다 가슴을 먹먹해지게 만드는 조형물. 유동인구가 많은 곳에 만들어졌다는 것만으로도 의미가 있음.
2015년 11월 7일에 건립된 소녀상. 의정부역 앞 평화공원에 앉아있는 소녀상
평화의 소녀상(平和의 少女像, 영어: Statue of Peace) 혹은 위안부 상(일본어: 慰安婦像 いあんふぞう 이안후조[*])는 일본군 위안부 피해자들을 기리고 올바른 역사 인식을 확립하기 위한 예술 조형물(동상)이다. 평화비(平和碑)라는 이름으로 불리기도 한다. 상의 모양은 의자에 앉아있는 모양과 서있는 모양이 대표적이다.
이런 측면에서 보면, 독일의 사과와 반성의 방식은 존중받을 만하다.
