Bakery that hasn’t evolved and banking on their “retro” status. The quality of baked goods has significantly gone down the past few years. Maybe someone should inform them that “retro” isn’t a taste, but if it were, it doesn’t taste good. Their (In)famous green salad bread or salad pan used to have a nice balance of potatoes/starch with cabbage. Now it’s all cabbage and a moldy green, probably not from the sauce but the staleness. Their egg salad sandwich was no better with literally messy clumps of stale greenish egg yolk, strange chunks of imitation crab, no sauce. Sorry don’t want green eggs. This had none of that creamy golden smoothness expected from a superior egg salad. Prices are exorbitant. They’ve been lazily taking Chinese tourists’ money, but since that’s gone, foresee this business as another one biting the dust. Not from Covid but from their laziness and unwillingness to do proper work.

Old-fashioned. Local. Love this place. Honest and great tastes. Famous for monaca icecream. Bread are a little bit big and a bit(!) pricy.

In an age of Paris Baguettes and Croissants, it’s good to see such a classic institution thriving. The monaka is a must. The café is surprisingly chic.

This is an authentic Korean bakery place. You can have Korean ice-cream as well. I ordered the ice cream on the photo, and liked it. The place is super big.

The oldest bakery in seoul. My mom told me that this place used to be the last stop of the Seoul metro when the metro line was first made!

A bit Eurostyle big old bakery. I just tried patbingsu which was nice. But the breads are pricey.

The oldest bakery in Seoul. It initially opened in 1946. The signature menus are Manaca Ice Cream and Sarada(salad) Bread. But, they have MANY other excellent breads. Average prices are just a little bit higher than typical franchise bakeries. But, qualities are much better. There's a coffee shop inside as well. I don't know how good their coffees are. Espresso was 4,000 won which is really highly priced. After purchasing breads, I recommend you to go upstairs. It's a fantastic old-fashioned hall and most people seemed unaware of.

I went on Sunday, so it was crowded. The bakery has a lot of options from bread, cookies, cakes to other pastries. I bought several pastries and a corn-bread. I would say that the taste was below my expectations. Probably the ones I chosen weren't their best? .
