★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 매장을 찾기 위해 세네번 헤맸는데 그냥 간판만 보고 다짜고짜 1층으로 진입한 나의 잘못이다. 지하 1층으로 가는 눈에 보이는 통로는 작은 에스컬레이터 하나 뿐인데 이마트 가는 길목이라며 막혀있고, 엘리베이터 있는 곳 까지 가봐야 10층에서 내려오는 것을 온종일 기다려야 하기 때문이다. 이래서 낯선 동네에서는 경비아저씨께 물어보는 것이 빠르다. 엘리베이터 타는 곳 오른쪽의 계단을 통해 내려가야 나오는 식당가는 지하 2층에 위치하고 있다. 역으로 통하는 길목으로 가다보면 나온다. 똑같은 이삭토스트인데 내가 알던 그간의 이삭토스트와는 좀 많이 다른 맛이다. 오해를 막기 위해 첨언을 하자면 맛이 없다는 것은 아니다. 어떻게 보면 (우리 엄마가 식탁에 오른 비인기 반찬에 하는 변호와 같은 맥락에서 보면) 좀 더 “건강한” 맛이겠다. 그러나 지금 기준으로 취향에 따라 야채나 소스 따위를 마음껏 바꾸고 추가할 수 없는 이 프랜차이즈의 시스템에서 과연 내 손에 쥐여진 싱거운 맛을 소비자들이 무슨 수로 커버할 수 있겠나
