전철역이다. 이 역부터 가좌역까지 계속 섬식 승강장이다.
2호선 신촌역 통근열차가 정차하며
최근 민자역사가 신축되어 이곳에서 역무를 보고 있다.
구 역사는 2004년에 문화재로 지정되었으며 향후 박물관으로
쓰일 계획이다.
