무궁화호는 1984년 1월 1일부터,
누리로 열차는 2021년 1월 5일부터 영업을 시작했다.
현재의 역사는 1996년 12월 20일에 신축하여
쭉 이어오고 있는 상태입니다.
봉화군 석포면 주민들 외에는
별로 방문할 일이 없는 한적한 기차역인 것 같습니다.
열차 외의 수단으로 이 역을 방문하려면 춘양면으로 오가는 버스가 하루에 단 1번, 태백시 방면 버스는 하루 단 2번만 운영을 하기 때문에
교통편도 열악한 편입니다.
역 주변 풍경이 화물 열차와 건너편에 거대한 공장이 있는데,
영풍그룹의 석포제련소를 위한 전용 지선이 설치되어 있어서,
주로 영남 지방의 산업단지로 아연괴나 황산을 나르는 데 쓰고 있습니다.
이 역에도 한국철도 기념 스탬프가 있으나 현재 22년 2월 부로는 날인이 불가합니다. 인근 백천계곡에 열목어 서식지가 있어서 그런지 열목어 형상이 그려져 있는 디자인입니다.

The scenery around the station is a freight train and there is a huge factory across from it,
A dedicated branch line for Yeongpoong Group’s Seokpo smelter is installed,
It is mainly used to transport zinc ingot and sulfuric acid to an industrial complex in the Yeongnam region.
There is also a Korea Railroad commemorative stamp at this station, but it cannot be stamped as of February, 22nd. It is a design with the shape of a yeolmok fish because there is a habitat for yeolmok fish in the nearby Baekcheon Valley.
