지난 2012년 광주학생교육원과 통합되어 학생교육원산하기관이 되었고 이 후 2020년 조례개정에 의해 '광주광역시학생교육원 청풍수련장' 으로 명칭을 변경했다. 아울러 최근 청풍수련장내에 현대식 숙박시설을 갖춘 4층 높이 수련관이 신축 완공되어 개관을 앞두고 있다. 신축 수련관은 코로나19로 인해 개관이 미뤄지고 있으나 향후 수련관이 운영을 시작되면 각종 학생수련 활동과 교직원 활용이 가능해 시교육청 산하 소속학교 학생들과 교직원들이 한층 다양한 수련과 가족 체험활동이 이뤄질 전망이다.
특히 광주 도심 가까운 거리에 있어 접근성이 좋고 무등산 자락이라는 자연환경적 이점도 있어 학생 교직원들의 선호도가 높을것으로 보인다.

In 2012, it was merged with the Gwangju Student Education Center to become an institution of student education, and after that, it was renamed as'Cheongpung Training Center of Gwangju Student Education Center' by the amendment of the ordinance in 2020. In addition, a new 4-story training center equipped with modern accommodation facilities in the Cheongpung Training Center was newly constructed and is about to open. The opening of the new training center has been delayed due to Corona 19, but when the training center starts operating in the future, various student training activities and faculty can be used, so students and faculty members of schools affiliated with the City Office of Education are expected to have more various training and family experiences.
In particular, as it is close to Gwangju city center, it has good accessibility and the natural environment advantage of the foot of Mt. Mudeung.
