Honorable Senator Marco Rubio,
My father, Patrick Finn, was in Item Company, Third Battalion, Fifth Marines in November/ December 1950 fighting for freedom against communist aggression in northern Korea. This summer, my father and I were invited by Sae Eden Presbyterian Church to attend a Korean War Veterans Appreciation Event for Peace. The people of South Korea are very thankful towards the Veterans of the United States/ United Nations for what they did almost 70 years ago. I was hoping that maybe this very fine church may be of assistance in any approach to peace on the Korean peninsula. Would Chairman Kim Jong Un be receptive to incentives to give up communism? In the past, in countries like East Germany and Romania, the outcome of relinquishing communism was not pleasant for those in power. If offered incentives with a great deal of respect, Chairman Kim Jong Un may enjoy an honorable, face-saving way out of this situation he inherited. I have been thinking about this and thought it would be a wonderful way to honor my father who lost a lot of friends up at the Chosin Reservoir in what is today North Korea.
