★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 수덕여관을 1944년에 이응노 화백이 구입하여 6.25한국 전쟁 때 피난처로 사용했우며 1959년 프랑스로 건너가기 전까지 머물면서 수덕사와 주변의 경관을 화폭에 담았다고 한다. 본연의 여관이라고 하기보다는 사택이라고 하는 것이 더 좋을 듯하다
옛날 여관의 모습을 재현하고 있지만 나는 그때의 기억을 찾을 수가 없다. 나에겐 그 시절 경험이 없으니까..
It is said that Sudeok Inn was purchased by painter Lee Eung-no in 1944 and used as a refuge during the Korean War. It would be better to call it a private residence rather than a natural inn.
It reproduces the appearance of an old inn, but I can't find the memories of that time. I didn't have any experience back then...

수덕사 경내에는 시선을 끄는 초가집 한 채가 있다. 일주문에서 선미술관을 지나 좌측에 있는 수덕여관이다. 고암 이응노 화백이 한국전쟁 때 피난처로 사용한 집으로 충청남도 기념물로 지정되었다. 그는 1959년 프랑스로 건너가기 전까지 이 공간에서 작품활동을 했다. 여관은 정면 5칸이 길에 접해 있으며 반대편으로 각각 6.5칸과 4칸이 ㄷ자형 날개를 이룬다. 이응노 화백이 동백림사건으로 귀국했을 때 고향에서 삼라만상의 영고성쇠를 문자로 새긴 것이 여관 북쪽 귀퉁이에 남아 있다. 그에 앞서서는 우리나라 최초의 여류화가 나혜석이 불교에 심취해 묵었던 집이다.

* The artistic soul of Ung-no Lee and Hye-seok Na, Sudeok Inn *
In the grounds of Sudeoksa Temple, there is a thatched-roof house that attracts attention. Sudeok Inn is on the left after passing the Sun Museum of Art from Iljumun. It was designated as a monument in Chungcheongnam-do as the house used as a refuge by Goam Lee Ungno during the Korean War. He worked in this space until he moved to France in 1959. The front of the inn has 5 kans facing the road, and 6.5 kans and 4 kans on the opposite side form a U-shaped wing. When Lee Ung-no returned to Korea due to the Dongbaekrim Incident, a text engraved with the three generations of the world in his hometown remains in the northern corner of the inn. Prior to that, it is the house where Na Hye-seok, the first female painter in Korea, stayed in love with Buddhism.
