★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The actual portraits are boring in my opinion, but there are other historical items such as palanquins in the underground level.The facility is well-made, modern, with restrooms.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good place for a quick stop but definitely not enough things to do to stay for a while. I stayed here for roughly an hour and a half looking at buildings and reading all of the English translations. It's a good place to learn about the Joseong Dynasty and how records were kept, along with huge portraits of kings and high nobility. There is a fee, but it is cheap (3,000 won), and there are discounts for students/children/groups.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came here in December. This is one of the few urban sites that I have seen in Korea that is truly beautiful. The old buildings of the palace are all open to viewing and the Hanok town that surrounds it is very pleasant as well. The street food that is to be had is very delicious if a trifle messy.
One thing that will really help people to enjoy this place in wintertime is to wear waterproof boots that can stand the dirt. There is not a blade of grass and the palace yard has only a few stone paths.
