Prehistoric Site Hemisphere Petroglyphs Even though it's spring like this, green shoots are sprouting The ginger tree has bloomed. The valley water flows a lot. I heard the sound of spring ions and the harmony of nature. Perfect for outing with the kids

Compared to the hemisphere petroglyphs, the scale is small, but The surrounding scenery and atmosphere are nature itself.

Visit with the Bangudae Petroglyphs. Think about what your ancestors did here a long time ago and what they thought and felt.

These petroglyphs (figures, pictures, and Chinese characters) were made on the rocks along the mid-stream area of Naegokcheon Stream, which is a tributary of Taehwagang River. The upper and lower sides of the rocks contain petroglyphs that differ in the content and techniques used. The upper side contains petroglyphs made by means of chiseling. The inscriptions include geometric patterns, animals, and abstract human figures. There are concentric circles, with a round figure looking like the sun at the center, four running deer next to them, and several semi-human animals. The figures with simplistic expression and symbolism appear to have been made during the Bronze Age. The lower side contains line-drawn picture mixed with Chinese characters. They include a procession of horse riders, animals including dragons, and boats. In particular, the procession of horse riders appears in three different places. The boats provide researchers with important information on the offshore activities carried out by people of the Silla Dynasty. The 800-plus Chinese characters are about the King and Queen’s visit to the place. They were presumed to have been inscribed on two occasions during the reign of King Beopheung (r. 514-540) of the Silla Dynasty. The content on the official positions and the government system makes it a precious material for those studying Silla during or around the 6th Century. The petroglyphs were made by many people over an extended period of time, providing vivid information on the life and thoughts of people from prehistoric times to the Silla Dynasty.
If you are going with children, be sure to install the Cheonjeonri Cretaceous Dinosaur Exploration App. You can also walk from the Bangudae Museum. Cheonjeon-ri petroglyphs are the first petroglyphs reported to the academic community in Korea in 1970. The rock on which the picture is engraved is about 9.5m wide and about 2.7m high, and has a long square shape, and the top is slightly inclined forward. On the left side of the rock, you can see figures of people and animals carved with the pecking technique, and abstract patterns such as rhombuses, round patterns, spiral patterns, and wavy patterns engraved with the mane technique on top of the rock can be seen all over the rock. These geometrical patterns are presumed to be Bronze Age petroglyphs because they are similar to the patterns expressed on relics such as bronze statues and bronze swords or the petroglyphs engraved on the dolmen cover stones. The thin line drawings engraved with sharp metal tools are concentrated on the lower part of the rock, and it is presumed that they were drawn in the Silla period when you look at the clothes of people, processions pulling or riding horses, ships with sails, and drawings of dragons. The inscription stone is the original name of King Beopheung's brother, King Sabujigalmun (徙夫知葛文王), who visited the Cheonjeon-ri Valley in the year Eulsa (525 AD)年, AD 539) It is said that the wife of King Sabujigalmun, Jimolsihye (只沒尸兮), visited with her young son. Cheonjeon-ri Petroglyphs, along with the Bangudae Petroglyphs, are on the UNESCO World Heritage Provisional List.
