★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 화양계곡을 걸어서 들어가다보면
운영담과 암서재가 보이고..
암서재를 바라보는 위치에 만동묘라는 사당이 있는데..
그 만동묘는 화양서원으로 이용되던 곳이기도 하며
조선시대 사대사상과 사색당쟁의 역사가 남아있으며
일제의 우리문화 말살 정책이 자행된 곳입니다
묘정비는..
그 만동묘 앞 마당에 만동묘를 건립하게된 경위 등을 비문으로 기록하기 위해 세운 비석이 바로 만동묘정비 입니다
만동묘(萬東廟)는, 임진왜란 때 명나라가 조선을 도와준 데 대한 보답으로 명나라 신종(神宗)을 제사지내기 위해,
우암 송시열의 유언에 의해 그 제자들이 1704년(숙종 30) 충북 괴산군 청천면(靑川面) 화양동(華陽洞)에 지은 사당입니다.
한일합방후 일제치하때도 유림들이 모여서 회합을 하는 등 일제의 심기를 불편케하자
일본놈들이 만동묘를 폐쇄하다 못해
아예 철거하여 괴산경찰서 청천주재소 건물을 짓는데 사용했다고 합니다
그때 묘정비는 넘어져 땅에 묻혔고
그와같이 만동묘 화양서원 건물 묘정비는 사라졌습니다
지금의 건물은 복원한것이며
묘정비는 잊혀졌다가
어느날 땅속에 묻힌것이 발견되어
다시 세워 복원 시켰다고 합니다
화양구곡 개방관람 시간대에는 만동묘 내부로 들어가 볼 수도 있는데..
자세히 살펴보면 명나라가 패망하고 청나라의 시대를 지나오면서도
그대로 명나라 왕의 위패를 모시고 있었던 점 등ᆢ
사대주의 사상이 어느정도 였는지를 알수있습니다
예전의 만동묘에는 제실외에 유림선비들이 거처하며 공부하는 방들이 여러개 있었는데.
그 방이 노론의 본산지 역할을 하기도 했답니다

The Japanese couldn't close the Mandong Temple

In the old Mandongmyo, there were several rooms where Yurim scholars lived and studied in addition to the ancestral hall.
