★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 함백산 정상에서 백두대간을 따라 북쪽으로 내려오다가 군데군데 주목이 매서운 바람을 오랜 세월 버텨내며 힘겹게 서있는 주목군락지를 지나면 중함백을 만나게 됩니다. 여기서 산줄기를 따라 힘차게 북쪽으로 뻗어있는 백두대간 줄기가 멀리까지 한눈에 들어옵니다. 겨울 산행 시, 여기서부터는 북사면에 쌓여있던 눈이 얼어붙어서 등산로가 미끄러우니 주의가 필요합니다.

Hambaek, descending north along the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range, you will come across Junghambaek after passing the yew colony where the yews have endured the bitter wind for a long time. From here, you can see the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range, which stretches vigorously to the north along the mountain range, from afar. 정상에 올라가니 바람이 엄청 불어서 휴대폰이 갑자기 방전돼 주의 요함
가파르지 않아서 산행하기 좋음.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 2019년 새해 첫산행지를 강원도 선자령을 산행하려다가 눈이 없다는 소식을 듣고 함백산을 등산하였다. 함백산은 우리나라 높이별 순위가 7위로써 유명한산이다. 백두대간을 뛸때 지나간산으로 11년만에 다시 찾은산인데 북쪽으로는 눈이 있고 빙판이 있으며, 남쪽으로는 눈이 없으며, 따뜻하기까지 하다.
