Hell Cafe Spiritus

Such a cool little bar/cafe. We stopped by in the afternoon and had some great coffee and a tiramisu. If you want to take a moment and enjoy the atmosphere and your coffee, this is a great choice.

Established in 2013, Hell Cafe has a reputation for creating it's own unique style of coffees; whether roasted in-house or invented behind the espresso machine their team of baristas take pride in serving the best lattes and cappuccinos in the city. Recognised as Seoul's "Little Japan", the cafe is located on Ichon's main commercial strip in a lowkey suburban two story 1970s building. The interior concept is simple, characterised by deep wooden furniture, long cocktail bar and heavy blinds blocking out the street light. Huge Tannoy and Klitsch speakers play baroque classical music; a fitting touch while the barista adds the finishing touches to your latte at your table, adding a touch of theatre and professionalism as they explain the drink that took head barista Im Seong-eun to the Korea National Barista Championship. Their current range of roasted coffee beans includes the following: 1) Kenya Single Origin 2) Ethiopia Single Origin 3) Colombia Single Origin 4) Dark Blend (Colombia 60%, Ethiopia 20%, India 20%) 5) Balance Blend (50% Brazil, 50% Colombia) Hell Cafe currently has three locations across Seoul, with dozens of cafes across the country using their 1) Hell Cafe Spiritus (Ichon-dong) 2) Hell Cafe (Itaewon) 3) Hell Cafe Bottega They've moved the bar section of the Hell Cafe business to a new cocktail bar venture, this time called "Moonriver", located in the popular Dosan-park area of Gangnam.

The self-assured baristas may come across rude but their good coffee tells all. Rich and velvety flat white!

They have a great selection of whiskey including single malt, blended, cognac and so on. Bar staffs are very hospitable and well-informed.

Mmmmm what a cappuccino ?? i had the balanced coffee beans and it is really really well balanced. Super relaxed atmosphere and fine music, of course they have awesome speakers and record player. Will visit the Bar in the evening, must be pretty good as well.

This is one of my favorite cafes in Korea (or Seoul). The vibe is classy and jazzy, not to mention the taste of the coffee. Every kinds of coffee there are delicious. I recommend for those who are visiting there for the first time Hell Latte and Blended drip coffee. I also enjoy the music there. I definitley want to visit this place at night to try drinking whiskey, although I heard it’s expensive.
