★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great local food. The portion may not look so big but it's very filling. I had Chigae, the set meal with fish. Very satisfying. The place is easy to find by the main road, although Google Map seems to suggest it in the small alley.
Based on my visit, it wasn't touristy at all because I was the only non-Korean. The menu is also written in English, not just the Romanised food name but also a proper description in English, so you know what you're ordering. The price is reasonable - and they accept credit cards just like most establishments in Korea.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent, authentic, family-run restaurant. Even as non-Korean-speaking foreigners we felt welcomed, and the food was delicious. The two of us had two types of bean soup, soft tofu stew, and a cut rice pancake, plus all the sides, and we left stuffed! The "rice juice" is highly recommended too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I ordered the warm ground bean soup with black sesame. The uniqueness of the soup is in the texture of the multiple beans grinded and the special fragrance it brings together. The soup is sweet and not savoury. Despite the sweetness, it really fills you up due the rich amount of protein from the beans. I love this soup and will definitely come again if I come to gyeongju.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Delicious! Uncurdled tofu soup with the squid & onion pancake. Lovely, balanced flavour in the soup with nice textured tofu. Some of the best food we've had in Korea and service was great. Would eat again ;)

When my wife suggested we go here I wasn't sure what to expect. I love all thr various versions of tofu dish that I've had in Korea and know that you really can't go wrong with a restaurant that makes its own. Still... bean soup sounded a little bland.
I got #1, my wife got #3. While it may seem like they would be very similar (the only real differences being an egg yolk and brown sugar in hers while mine had more bean powders and honey), they were very different.
Hers was thinner and sweater; it tasted almost like western oatmeal without the oats. Mine was thicker and more savory, almost like 미숫가루 (the roasted grain drink).
A thoroughly enjoyable breakfast!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My favorite here is the hot soybean soup. So yummy and unique. Not to sweet with nice aroma. We enjoyed korean pancake here. Quite a unique local delicacies to try during your visit at Gyeongju. This place becomes one of my favorite place to eat in Gyeongju.
