송암 조규진선생이 국가인재 양성에 기여코자 고등학교와 함께 설립했다. 창조를 교훈으로 정한 이학교는 2만여명의 졸업생을 배출 한 명문 사립학교로 자리잡았다.
설립 당시는 북구 운암동이었으나 2004년지금의 신창동으로 이전했다. 수많은 인재를 배출한 지역인재 양성의 요람이 되어가고 있다.
