★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 그다지 높지는 않지만 산성으로서의 입지는 매우 훌륭한 듯 합니다. 6세기 중반 아라가야가 멸망한 후 신라에 의해 세워진 성산산성에서는, 멀리 낙동강 상류의 상주 등지로부터 공물을 보낼 때 같이 보낸 하찰목간(물품을 보낼 때 같이 보내는 꼬리표)을 비롯하여 수많은 목제품이 발굴되었습니다. 목간에는 누가 누구에게 어떤 물품을 보내는지가 잘 씌어져 있는데, 물품 중에는 보리, 피, 쌀 등이 있습니다. 지금은 잡초 취급하는 피를 당시에는 먹었던 모양입니다. 성산산성 연못터에서 발견된 연꽃 씨앗은 700년만에 꽃을 피웠고 이를 '아라홍련'이라 부릅니다.
