Q. 주민이 투표로 읍장 선출…혁신 성과는?
A. 이전의 읍장들은 대부분 국장 승진하지 못했던 분, 임기가 이제 1년 정도 남았던 분, 마지막으로 읍장 타이틀이 좀 필요했던 분들이었습니다. 그러다보니까 능동적으로 일하지 않았는데 일을 하지 않으면 본청에서 관리감독을 해야 하는데 대부분 고참 분들이라 방치가 되어 있는 산황이라 고성읍이 제대로 운영이 안됐습니다.
그런데 이제 읍민들이 직접 뽑다보니까 그분이 내세웠던 공약을 실현하기 위해서라도 부단히 노력하고 공부하고 소통하는 과정들이 있기 때문에 지금 고성군이 역동적으로 변화 발전하는 이유는 고성읍장 때문에 그렇다 저는 그렇게 생각합니다.

Q. Residents elect the mayor by vote... What is the innovation achievement?
A. Most of the former mayors were those who could not be promoted as directors, those who had a term of about a year left, and those who needed a title of the mayor. So, if I didn't work actively, but if I didn't work, I had to supervise the management at the main office. Most of them are senior citizens, so Goseong-eup wasn't properly operated because it was neglected.
But now that the townspeople have chosen themselves, there are processes of constantly working, studying, and communicating to realize the pledge that he made, so the reason Goseong-gun is dynamically changing and developing is because of the mayor of Goseong-eup, I think so.
