★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ganwolam(간월암) looks like a lotus or a boat on the water. Ganwolam hermitage was built by the Great Monk Muhak in the era of King Taejo Joseon Dynasty. The name of the hermitage is directly tied with Muhak himself as it is said Muhak became enlightened while mediating under the moon.
At low tide Ganwolam Hermitage is connected to shore via a natural walkway, but high tide the walkway is submerged and the hermitage becomes an island.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a nice location for a quick visit. The temple itself is not that special, but the location, on a little island, is very scenic. Make sure you visit at low tide so you can walk out to the temple.
