The temple it's self is really beautiful and also very detailed. The hike is what I enjoyed the most. You can hike for as long as you like. For the best view travel along the left ridge when you reach the top. To go even further up.

Gakwonsa Temple and the Independence Hall of Korea make a great day trip to Cheonan! Gakwonsa Temple was built in the 1970s in hopes for the reunification of North and South Korea. There's a 49-foot-tall Buddha statue there that's really impressive. You'll see people walking circles around it. There are a lot of stairs, especially to get up to the big Buddha. You can overlook the temple grounds from the highest level. It's gorgeous. There were budding cherry blossoms there today! You can park at the very bottom, along the road near the small gift shop and the huge set of stairs, but you don't have to. There is another parking lot if you keep driving up the road a little way.

2021.4.17 I visited here last weekend, and the flowerss were so amazing! The temple is so big, and there are many the double cherry blossom trees, king cherry blossom tress so no need to worry, u can always take a nice pic. The parking lot is quite big, but I parked at the street near the entrance coz I worried there were no places left to park. Maybe if you gp there this early weekdays, you can still find pretty flowers. Hurry up!

Gakwonsa Temple has one of biggest stature of Buddha. Excellent hilltop view and colorful during the fall. Situated in rural setup, refreshing late afternoon/evening tour. I recommend it.

Gakwonsa Temple is located halfway from the peak of Taejosan Mountain, a natural landmark of Cheonan. The temple was established on May 9, 1977 to pray for the reunification of North and South Korea. The temple contains a bronze seated statue of Buddha, which is 15 meters in x_height, 30 meters in circumference, has 175-centimeter-long ears and 30-centimeter-long nails, and weighs 60 tons.To the left of the statue is the largest Buddhist prayer hall in Korea, Daeungbojeon Hall, along with other temple buildings, drawing in many Buddhist followers as a prayer site.

One of the most stunning temples to be seen in Korea. Love the statue of Buddha and the temple surroundings. It was very peaceful, serene and beautiful. The sound of the chimes and buddha prayers by the monks just made me to want to stay longer. Definitely recommend a visit to this temple. It's a bliss during spring and autumn seasons.
