★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 경상남도 합천군 가야면 치인리해인사에 있는 통일신라시대의 석등.
높이 3.1m. 경상남도 유형문화재 제255호. 방형(方形)의 지대석(地臺石) 상면에 놓인 기단(基壇)은 상·하 2단으로 구성되어 있다.
하단석은 방형의 형태로 측면에는 각 면 2구씩의 안상(眼象)이 조식되어 있고, 상단석은 8각형의 형태로 상면에는 복엽(複葉) 8판의 복련(伏蓮)을 조식하였는데, 연화문의 가운데에는 보상화문(寶相華文)을 새겼다.
상면에는 각형 1단의 간주석(竿柱石) 받침을 조출하였다. 간주석은 8각형인데, 후대에 보충하였다. 상대석 역시 8각형의 형태인데, 측면에는 연판 내에 화문이 있는 단엽(單葉) 8판의 앙련(仰蓮)을 조식하였고, 간지에는 간엽을 배치하고 있다.
상면에는 각형 1단의 화사석(火舍石 : 점등하는 부분) 받침을 조출하였다. 화사석은 부등변 8각형으로 4개의 화창(火窓)을 개설하였고, 나머지 면에는 각각 1구씩의 사천왕상(四天王像)을 배치하고 있다.
옥개석 역시 8각형의 평면으로 낙수면의 경사가 완만한데, 추녀가 완만한 곡선을 그리며 전각(轉角)에 이르러 경쾌한 반전을 보이고 있다. 정상에는 보주(寶珠)를 놓았다. 이 석등은 전체적인 양식으로 보아 해인사삼층석탑 보다 조금 늦은 9세기 후기에 건립된 것으로 추정된다.

3.1 m high. Gyeongsangnam-do Tangible Cultural Heritage No. 255. The base, which is placed on the top of the rectangular stone, consists of two stages, the upper and the lower.
The lower seat is in the shape of a rectangle, and on the side of the side is an octagonal shape, and the upper seat is in the shape of an octagon, and on the upper surface, 8 plates of double leaves are breakfasted. In the center, the word "rewarding flower" was engraved.
On the upper surface, a prismatic, one-stage, intermittent stone support was produced. It is an octagonal shape, and it was supplemented later. The opposite stone is also in the shape of an octagon. On the side, there is a single leaf (單葉) with a flower gate in the soft plate, and an 8 plate of angryeon (仰蓮) is breakfasted, and the liver leaves are arranged on the interstitial paper.
On the upper surface, a prismatic one-stage Hwasa stone (lighting part) support was produced. The Hwaseo stone is an equilateral octagon, with four fire windows, and one statue of the Four Heavenly Kings is placed on each of the remaining faces.
Okgaeseok is also an octagonal plane, and the slope of the falling water surface is gentle, but the ugly woman draws a gentle curve and shows a light reversal when she reaches the front. An orb was placed on the top. Judging from the overall style, it is estimated that this stone lantern was built in the late 9th century, a little later than the three-story stone pagoda of Haeinsa Temple.
