경기도 안양시 석수동산27.28번지 소재한다. 안양사 지명유래의 근원지인 안양사는 신라 효공왕 3년(900)에 고려 태조 왕건이 남쪽지역을 정벌하러 지나다 삼성산에
오색구름이 가득 피어 오르자 이를 이상하게 살펴보다가 능정이란 승을 만나 세워진 사찰로 전해진다.안양이란 불가에서 아미타불이 상주하는 청정한 극락정토의 세계를 말하며 현재의 서쪽으로 10만억년 불토를 지나 있다는 즐거움만 있고 자유로운 이상형 안양세계를 말한다. 신증동국여지승람에는 고려말 최영장군이 7층전탑을 세우고 왕이 환관을 시켜 향을 보냈으며, 승려 천명이 불사를 올렸다는 기록이 있다. 이러한 사실을 증명하는 자료로 고려시대 조성된 팔각원당의 부도와 귀부(경기도 유형문화재 제93호)가 있다. 귀부는 삼국사기 저자 김부식이 짓고 명필 이원부가 쓴 비문이 있었으나 현존하지 않는다. 조선왕조실록에는 태종 11년(1411)에 왕께서 충남 온양으로 온천욕을 가던 중에 안양사에 드렀다는 기록이 있고 안양사와 관련한 여러 수의 시가 지금까지 전해지고 있다. 안양사에는

왕건 남정시의 오색구름 이야기는 다른지역에서도 언급하고 있다. 고려사와 고려사절요에 의하면 고려시대 숭불 정책으로 승들이 2~3천명씩 집단적으로 사찰에서 2~3일씩 행사하는 등 페단이 많았으며, 조선을 건국한 이성계는 배불 숭유정책을 내세우기까지 하였다.

In Sinjeungdongguk Yeojiseungram, there is a record that at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty, Choi Yeonggun built a seven-story pagoda, the king sent eunuchs to send incense, and a thousand monks made immortality. Materials proving this fact include the Budo and Gwibu (Gyeonggi-do Tangible Cultural Property No. 93) of the octagonal garden built in the Goryeo Dynasty. There was an inscription written by Kim Bu-shik, author of the Samguk Sagi and written by Lee Won-bu, but it does not exist. In the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, there is a record that the king visited Anyangsa while going to Onyang, Chungcheongnam-do in the 11th year of King Taejong (1411), and several poems related to Anyangsa have been handed down until now. The story of the five-colored clouds in Namjeong-si, Wang-geon, is also mentioned in other regions. According to Goryeo and Goryeo envoys, the policy of worshiping Buddha during the Goryeo Dynasty led to many pedan events, including groups of two to three thousand monks performing at the temple for two to three days.
