About Adaptable Human Solutions
AHS has grown from the vision of a Canadian psychologist who recognized the need for high quality, effective psychological counseling services in Korea. Starting as a one-woman company, AHS has continually grown in size, but maintained an unwavering dedication to professionalism, confidentiality, and measurable outcomes.
There is no question that Korean culture is vastly different from those of which many expats in Korea originate from, and it may be difficult to find someone who really understands your experience.
To that end, our English therapy team is composed of many Western expatriates who were born, raised and trained in the West. They are credentialed professionals who have achieved advanced degrees specific to Psychotherapy (psychologists, marriage & family therapists, and licensed counselors). Further, AHS professionals have current licensure in the United States or Canada, and maintain the professional standards of their governing body.
This standard of qualifications has allowed many of our clients to receive reimbursement or to direct bill their overseas insurance provider or EAP (Employee Assistance Program).

third-culture/international, academic anxieties, anxiety & depression, feminism, family conflict (e.g. cultural gaps, generational differences, etc.)...
but also needing an English-speaking female therapist, I thought it'd be impossible to find a therapist here who I'd be satisfied with, but I am more than happy with the therapist I was introduced to here.
I was paired with an art therapist, so I made random things that reflect how I view things/how I feel. Sometimes, I can't really verbalize everything I'm feeling/thinking, so it was nice and fun. My therapist was a great listener and was very calm, understanding, and empathetic.
Therapy can be really intimidating and scary, but she made it less so and took off the pressure for me.
The office is very cozy and clean, the workers are kind and understanding (and bilingual), and it's also great that there is a telehealth option (online counseling). Although it can be a bit pricey, I would still recommend their mental health services!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best counseling experiences I've ever had, AHS owns up to the hype for being not only an incredible resource for expats, English speakers, and a multicultural practice.
Each counselor has their own specialty to the practice, whether it's anxiety-related, cultural-related, or trauma-related, and AHS works with you to determine which counselor is the best fit to your needs.
Since the pandemic, in addition to other traumatic events in my life, I've had an incredible journey with healing with the sessions. We made do with using Microsoft Teams to talk, but the value of the sessions themselves were not lessened for not being in person.
They'll walk you through the paperwork and the information you need to provide from the get-go, and from there it's relatively smooth sailing.
